Safari Este viaje fue increíble de principio a fin. Nuestro guía era Lesikar. Él era muy bien informado, profesional, y nos cuidó mucho. Fuimos al cráter Ngorongoro (muy recomendable) , y luego 5 días en el Parque Nacional del Serengeti. Hoopoe is really terrific!! We booked our trip with Hoopoe through a referral and it was the best decision. The communication throughout the planning process was excellent. They listened to what we were looking for, responded to our many litany of questions, and really laid out a perfect plan for our vacation. They were absolutely a pleasure to work with. All the accommodations, travel details, etc. were perfect down to every last detail. And the guide through Hoopoe, Lesikar, was fantastic. He took such great care of us and treated us like family. You can tell he genuinely likes what he does. He really was the icing on the cake as you do spend a lot of time with your guide in the car, traveling to/from airports, etc. and again, asking our questions about all the animals, culture and anything else that came up. There are many, many choices to book your safari with, but we are very happy that we chose Hoopoe. Thank you to Ann and Dionis for a wonderful and unforgettable vacation!

Excellent experience These people really try their best. All arrangements worked like a clockwork, despite the somewhat busy schedule (8 days, 4 national parks). Our guide/driver Joseph was very reliable, nice, friendly and knowledgeable. The lodges where without exception luxury standard (with regard that some where in the bush) and people everywhere were very friendly and reliable.A fabulous experience, we do recommend!

Amazing experience! My girlfriend and I have done 5 days of safari with hoopoe: 3 in Serengeti, 1 in ngorongoro, 1 in tarangire. They also organized our movements from Arusha to Zanzibar and the resort where we stayed there. Overall, hoopoe level of organization was amazing. Expert and professional guides, amazing experience. Bucket List that Lived Up to the Hype. Thanks to Aron! Absolutely top notch experience as Aron expertly drove and graciously, expertly guided our party of four through 10 days that included a hike at the base of Kilimanjaro, two days in Tarangire National Park, the Northern Serengeti and Mara River (including Balloon Trip), and then the Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Success on a trip like this begins and ends with the guide: Aron anticipated our needs so well. He provided bottomless expertise in flora and fauna and gave deep candid answers to our questions about culture and history. He was sensitive to our need for the occasional rest and yet he zealously sought to show us all of the animals and birds we longed to see. We got our "big five" but so much more. The accommodations chosen were spectacular — Maramboi Tented Lodge, Acacia Farm Lodge, Kubu Kubu Lodge, Nyumbu Tented Camp, Ngorongoro Sanctuary Lodge — each more impressive than the last with great service, super comfortable beds, and generally good food (at most of these, but especially good food at Nyumbu!). Side trips (balloon, Kili hike, Mao wa Mbu culture walk) were handled by subcontracted guides who were also top flight. Communication was handled rapidly and professionally by Beatrice at Hoopoe, including when we had to cancel the trip in 2023...deposits were carried over without a blip and pricing was honored. This is a high-class operation. Very happy that we chose Hoopoe and that Hoopoe provided us with Aron.

Increíble equipo de apoyo para nuestra escalada de Kili Hicimos la Ruta Machame con Safaris de Aro. Amazing supporting team for our Kili climb We did the Machame Route with Hoopoe Safaris. We were all extremely happy with the entire trip and the guides and porters and chef's went above and beyond to make our trip fabulous. We did a VIP Kilamanjaro climb with 11 of us for a private group. All the information provided to use was super helpful and the team supported us throughout. The kindness everyone exhibited and the support was amazing. They checked our vital's everyday, we discussed the following day scheduled and what to wear, we had always enough time to plan and ask questions. The chef's prepared delicous meals every day including wonderful soups and a birthday cake for our group on one of the days. All the porters were amazing, setting up everything before each time we reached the camp and helping us with everything we need. Our lead guide Joseph and all assistant guides were supportive and helpful and we all summited thanks to theirsupport. Highlighly recommend Hoopoe for anyone that wants to do the Kilamanjor climb.

Africa is my favorite place This was our second trip with Hoopoe. It was even better than the first one. They customized the trip for us. All of the lodges and tented camps were exceedingly nicer than our expectations. Beatrice helped us with the planning; she got everything detailed to our itinerary. We love our guide Albert. He is passionate about animals. We appreciate his eagled-eyes and his knowledge. We appreciate Beatrice to have him assigned to us the second time around. Our Rwanda gorilla’s safari was also a trip to remember with tour guide Issac from the Far Horizon safari that Beatrice arranged for us. Thanks Issac for giving us a great experience of Rwanda.

Exquisite Safari Experience with Knowledgable Guides, Thoughtful Service and Curated Experiences: True Understated Luxe I have gone on a number of Safaris over the years and the Hoopoe package exceeds them all. Aron, our extremely knowledgable guide was an excellent spotter and made sure to include detailed explanations of the various flora and fauna. He always ensured that our own matriarch, my 90-year-old auntie was able to view what the rest of were able to spot, taking extra care to describe the area for her. He quickly zeroed in our interest levels and carefully curated our game drives to seek out species of interest, adding color with detailed zoological descriptions of behavior. The Hoopoe camps: Kirurumu Tamarind, Kirurumu Serengeti and Kirurumu Manyara, were all understated luxury. With so many of the large hotels in the parks feeling like a watering hole in the height of dry season with lumbering packs of greige tourists making their way to the lackluster buffet the Kirurumu camps were a lovely, quiet respite. The camps were situated in a private way to allow you to enjoy the animals that roamed through camp safely, with eco-conscious amenities and deep community ties. Many of the camp managers came from the communities themselves, and they employed locals as much as possible. They were sure to accommodate the needs of us all and were so careful, positively reverential, of my auntie, escorting her to and fro, bring blankets and ensuring her every comfort was accounted for. I highly suggest taking advantage of the ethno-botanical walks that are gratis, guided by a local Maasai. These are fascinating for the armchair or more serious botanist. The chefs at the camps are all wonderful and accommodating ensuring that the food allergies are carefully accounted for as well. The meals were high quality and requests were met as much as possible. At the camps you felt all of the comforts of a hot shower after a dusty day on the road with a cold sundowner by the “bush tv” a wonderful way to connect with a beautiful place and unplug from the modern world (if you chose, there was of course internet but we tried hard to avoid those unanswered emails). Hoopoe Safaris and Kirurumu Camps have a long, sterling reputation for understated luxury and exceptional service. Our experience was a reinforcement of that - as careful attention to our needs and thoughtful anticipation of the same were attended to. There are many companies offering safaris and tours in Arusha but few will be able to exceptional education standard of the guides and the hospitality of the staff of Hoopoe and Kirurumu.

Lifetime Experience. Just Sensational! With what felt like 1000 companies to choose from, we found the process of picking a Safari challenging when we started out. It all became much easier once we discovered Hoopoe. From the beginning, their communication was excellent, and they were extremely patient with us as we worked through the options and made a decision about what we wanted. While not a budget safari… If there is such a thing… We really wondered why would you pay more than what Hoopoe delivers at midrange prices? The service was excellent, the lodges we stayed in were beautiful and atmospheric, and most importantly, our guide, Jackson, was exceptional. he was highly professional, very patient with our two children who were nine and four, and incredibly knowledgeable. We did not talk only about animals, and he taught us a lot about the country, the people, and the history beyond the wildlife and the parks. When we decided to add a visit to Olduvai at the last minute, he was able to arrange that for us without any issue. We absolutely would recommend any friends or families to work with Hoopoe if looking for a high-quality Safari experience in Tanzania, and if we are ever fortunate enough to return, we will use them again without thinking.
